Young Adults

We are blessed with such talented young adults in our synod that we just had to be a part of
the Young Adult Resource Program. (YARP for short).

What's a YARP you might ask? A YARP is a young adult, usually in college or graduate school, that volunteers their time to the synod to help out in congregations, youth events, regional events - wherever they are needed. They attend training each year and spend the majority of their volunteer hours leading lock-ins, small groups and planning teams.

How can I have a YARP help me out? Simply fill out the YARP request form and return it to Tammy. Keep in mind the college schedules of these young adults. December and early May are exams. We tend to lose a good number of them in the summer as they head to Lutheridge/rock or Agape/Kure Beach to serve as counselors.

How much does it cost to have a YARP? Mileage and food along with any program expenses of your event. Keep them well fed and they'll stay. :))

Why does NC put the time, money and energy into the YARP program? This age group is committed to service and provides a wealth of energy, love of the Lord and excitement to any group. By keeping them involved in church service, our hope is they will be wonderful lay leaders, not just today but in the future. These same young adults may one day serve your congregation as pastor. Won't you be glad they've had youth and family ministry experience?
